
- The 16x2 character Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) shows the user the scan format, the pattern and the output options selected.
- The Next, Previous and Group buttons will display the data for the selected screen as you scroll through the scan formats. The first scan format for each group displays after pushing the group button. The horizontal scan frequency designates each group. The groups contain the scan formats for ranges of ten horizontal scan frequencies.
- The Select button turns the video and sync output signals to the monitor and the pattern icon on and off.
- The Pattern button steps through the four video output patterns (Full Raster, Color Bars, Gray Bars and CrossHatch). To set the Full Raster pattern, select a new scan format. When Select is on, the icon for the current pattern appears on the LCD display.
- Pushing the Pattern button for 3 seconds will cause the Montest-LCD to sequence through the four patterns automatically with five-second intervals for each pattern. The automatic sequencing stops when pushing the pattern button again for 3 seconds, or if changing to a new scan format.
- When a scan format is displayed, pushing the Alt button additional times will display four screens of information for each scan; Main, Alternate, B and C Screens. This button will step through the four screens of data for each scan format.
- All Four Screens display:
- The Scan Format Group,which can be from 30s to 110s.
- The Scan Format Number from 01 through 92.
- One of the following for the Screen selected; "blank" for main screen, "a" for alternate screen, "b" for B screen, or "c" for C screen.
- The Pattern Icon (#) when the scan format is selected (Raster, Color Bars, Gray Bars, or Cross Hatch).

- Along with the previous information, the Main Screen displays:
- The number of horizontal lines in each vertical frame. The Horizontal Timing is set with 31.25ns resolution and the Vertical Timing is set with one horizontal line resolution.
- The Horizontal Scan Frequency (ranging from 31.5-130KHz) and the Vertical Scan Frequency (ranging from 56-160Hz).
- The Alternate Screen displays information including:
- No Timeout (NT) if the 10-minute video display timeout is off. Use the Time button to select.
- Pixel Width of 16ns or 31ns. Use the Pixel button to select
- Sync Polarity of +H +V, -H +V, +H-V or -H -V. Use the Polarity button to select.
- Sync Type of Horizontal and Vertical (H&V), Composite Horizontal and Vertical (CMP), or Sync on Green (SOG). Use the Sync button to select.
- Note that the Time, Polarity, and Sync buttons activate only when the LCD displays the Alternate Screen.
- The B Screen displays information including:
- The typical resolution and refresh rate used for that scan format. The actual pixel size used may not match the horizontal resolution. This screen is for viewing only and the user cannot change.
- The C Screen displays information including:
- Optional Data, or any other additional information that may be provided.
- Pushing the Alt button for 3 seconds, at power up, during the display of NTI MONTEST-LCD, will display the Montest-LCD status. Pushing the Alt button additional times displays the number of scan formats in the Groups and then returns to normal operation, displaying the last selected scan format.
- There are 92 scan formats currently available. Additional scan formats are available as a software upgrade. The scan formats programmed into the Montest-LCD limit the frequency range.
